Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety and losses that accompany disasters.Course Description:![]() The Are You Ready? An In-Depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness course was designed by the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials to help you learn how to protect yourself and your family against all types of hazards. You will receive a 200-page preparedness manual that can be used as a reference source or as a step-by-step manual. The content focuses on how to develop, practice and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity for you and your family to survive. By completing this class, you and your family can say, “Yes, we are ready!”Course Objectives:At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Target Audience:Interested citizens and disaster and emergency response volunteers are encouraged to attend. This includes volunteer partners in Medical Reserve Corps, Community Emergency Response Teams, and other Citizen Corps programs.Members of faith- and community-based organizations and agency representatives from the KC Metro Community Organizations Active in Disasters are also encouraged to participate. |
